The California Children's Hospital Association applauds Governor Schwarzenegger's courage, creativity and commitment in the quest for comprehensive reform of our healthcare delivery system. In particular, we are appreciative of the recognition that increases in Medi-Cal funding must be a part of any healthcare reform in order to help ensure access to care for the State's children.

State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)

The California Children's Hospital Association urges President Bush to swiftly sign a 5-year bill to reauthorize the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Hundreds of thousands of children in California depend on this program to receive medically necessary preventative and curative treatments. Without enhanced funding directed towards this critically important program, as well as timely reauthorization, access to health insurance for those children currently enrolled or eligible but not enrolled could be at risk.
