CCHA Holds Successful Resident Advocacy Day

Physician Residents from seven of CCHA’s member hospitals participated in Resident Advocacy Day in Sacramento on March 22, 2023. Residents heard from guest speakers including Senator Richard Roth, Dr. Akilah Weber and Elizabeth Landsberg, Director of HCAI.

During meetings with legislators and staff, residents discussed the importance of SB 424 (Durazo) a bill that will modernize the California Children’s Services program, and they also encouraged legislators to support the California Hospital Association’s $1.5 billion state budget request to assist financially struggling hospitals in the state. In addition, residents expressed their opposition to the Department of Health Care Services Budget trailer bill to expand California Children’s Services Whole Child Model due to clinical, financial and process concerns with the proposal. Overall, CCHA's Resident Advocacy Day was a big success and residents enjoyed advocating on behalf of their patients, children’s hospitals and their profession.
